Initial Response Okayguys I really want to write a Peter Pan retelling nowTHEY'RE SO MUCH FUN School has only been out for one whole day and Ashley can already tell her vacation is going to bore her to tears With her friends out of town and her parents working nonstop she finds herself alone and with nothing to do until one night she wakes up and discovers Peter Pan in her bedroom wrestling with his shadowSince his original adventure with the Darlings Peter Pan has been bringing new Wendy girls to Neverland to take care of the Lost Boys But Ashley's made of much tougher stuff than the Wendy girls before her she'd rather befriend the mermaids or fight Captain Hook and his pirate crew Creating new adventures for her friends Ashley is bringing change to Neverland and not everyone is happy about it High Lights This bookSO MANY GOOD THINGS Ashley is a SUPER COOL main character and I feel like she was super relatable and normal you know? Peter of course was wonderful Don't really need to explain why The Lost Boys are MY FAVORITE I loved them all each in there special way Dibs was annoyingly entertaining view spoiler And at the end IT ONLY MADE ME LOVE HIM MORE He just misses his mom guys c'mon hide spoiler

Content contains spoilers Two crudecrass words used once or twice At the end it's not uite clear whether or not a certain pirate is eaten alive by a certain crocodile or not When I first opened this book I had a little trouble getting into it—iPods and polaroid’s in Neverland? But after the first chapter I found the story and myself slipping smoothly into a magical getaway This book hit all right feels that you expect to find in a Peter Pan story and instead of leaning on the modern setting as a crutch she using just a sprinkle of it to create new gags and fun twists There are all kinds of subtle twists that kept me reading and it was intriguing to see the fresh takes on Peter and the Lost Boys Ashley herself was a sweetly funny and engaging narrator; the authoress did a great job of writing a believable eleven year old without writing down to the audience A few of the ‘modern woman’ moments can be a little rolling and felt a little overused at points but most of it is in good fun This book was one long golden stream that ferried me along into the wee hours of the morning as I stayed up way to late to finish it with a persistent grin on my face and the warm nostalgia of a three hour return to innocence It was delightful Even at the end when all roads lead back to the real world—a scene that is invariably achy and beautiful—there was a sudden gentle twist that kept it from being too poignant More than book that is ‘just for kids’ – the heart of this book will stay with me for uite a while I haven’t visited Neverland in a very long time—and it was wonderful to go back This book than provided the ‘happy thoughts’ If I had just had some pixie dust I would have been flying

I'm really not sure if my overall coolness to this book was thata we really don't need another re do of Peter Pan especially since the Dave BarryRidley Pearson ones were so goodb that this is just kind of okayIt was completely passable and would likely scratch the right itch for the right reader I think but very little of this story or much of anything about it really stuck out for me which I suppose says everything that needs to be said

Let me make this clear before I get a bit 'passionate' about this story; this was not a bad book At some parts I was really interested in the story However at other times I was counting down the pages until I could get this over with First off Ashleywas no Wendy Or Molly Aster for any Peter and The Starcatchers fans Or Sarah for any Bridge to Never Land fans She was memorable than Jane though Do you see what I am trying to say? She was not as memorable as any of these 'Wendy girls' Though technically Molly Aster is the first girl that Peter Pan hangs out with even though it isn't the 'original' version Just sayin' I liked her but at times I was annoyed by her And really? Why would you take your mother's iPod to Neverland? I'm sure you can entertain yourself in other ways and there's also the fact that you are probably going to breaklose it I was proven right about this too One of the earlier chapters is entitled 'Something Eats Mom's iPod' Also compared to other Peter Pan preuels and seuels this was rather lacking I will NOT compare Always Neverland's plot to the original book because I don't think anyone can outdo that Though Ridley Pearson and Dave Barry came uite close Sorry I am a bit of a geek No interruptions promise And yet another not so small thing view spoilerHOW THE HECK DO YOU KILL OFF HOOK? YOU CAN'T DO THAT hide spoiler

I love reading books I think my daughter may enjoy and it doesn't hurt that by doing so I explore their content and can tell if it's appropriate for her age I thoroughly enjoyed this book As a huge fan of all things Peter Pan Neverland Tink Lost Boys and Wendy this really appealed to me And as a woman who was raised to believe she was strong independent and self reliant this is a great story of a girl in a boy's world who isn't content to let that be the status uo A funny read with good lessons that don't hit you over the head or seem to be advancing a too obvious agenda I recommend this for boys and girls both if they enjoy exploring the land second star to the right and straight on til morning

I couldn't decide between 2 or 3 stars On the one hand it was a light fluffy read but I had no time to sit and read it so I couldn't appreciate it fully At times it felt like a bunch of mini adventures in Neverland rather than one big plot which was ok but wasn't what I was looking for The ending felt very cheesy a bit of a sell out Not bad but not stellar

Light fun adventure with a modern new kick ass yet diplomatic Wendy girl

I loved the fact that the adventures of Peter Pan are still alive and strong Move over Wendy Darling there's a new girl in Neverland Very good book
