Are put on standby when she’s declared too fat to fly Forced to turn to her BFF for cash Cookie buys a second seat on Girl on a MOBI #239 the plane She arrives in the city to find that she’s been replaced by the boss’s daughter a girl who’s everything she’s not ultrathin and superrich Bowing to society’s pressure she vows to lose weight get out of the friend zone with her crush and put her life on track Skinny Cookie expected sunshine and rainbows but nothing ab. It s not often a book makes me want to stand up and cheer along with making me LOL throughout FAT GIRL ON A PLANE is like SEX IN THE CITY meets BRIDGET JONES S DIARY meets something uniuely and completely all its own I mean how many authors can get away with casually and hilariously referencing sun bears blob fish and Noam Chomsky all in one book This Contemporary YA novel is smart sexy edgy rebellious touching and inspiring and very funny all at the same time Author deVos doesn t just make body positive fashion cool she turns it into a raucous battle cry that readers can t help but want to enthusiastically join in on PS deVos s insider looksend up of the fashion industry is both fascinating and slyly subversive And her love for the art and craft of fashion design and clothes construction is infectious Hands down one of the best reads of 2017 TeamCookieVonn TeamGrandma TeamThatHotGondolaScene

FatHigh school senior Cookie on a PDF #205 Vonn’s post graduation dreams include getting out of Phoenix attending Parsons and becoming the next great fashion designer But in the world of fashion being fat is a cardinal sin It doesn’t help that she’s constantly compared to her supermodel mother and named after a dessert Thanks Fat Girl PDFEPUBto her job at a fashion blog Cookie scores a trip to New York to pitch her portfolio and appeal for a scholarship but her plans. It starts with a plane seat Cookie Vonn is a senior in high school and already starting to live out her dream of working in the fashion industry Through an internship at a local fashion blog she has the opportunity to fly across country to NYC to interview famous designer Garreth Miller on his latest collection But her big moment gets derailed when the airline forces to buy a second seat because Cookie Vonn is over 300 pounds She fits in one seat just fine but it s a judgement call you see After scrambling to find money she doesn t have for the extra seat she doesn t need and being utterly publicly humiliated by the process she is rewarded by being replaced last second by the boss s daughter and shut out of fashion weekCookie decides that if she loses weight she ll finally have the things in life she wants She ll finally be accepted by the world of fashion and her best friend Tommy will realize they are than friends She ll be successful and happy And she does lose 200lbs Instead of just getting an interview with Garreth Miller she is hired to design a collection for him and becomes his girlfriend It s all working out for thin and beautiful Cookie But it turns out happiness is complicated than she imaginedThis book is about so much than a young woman s transformation from fat to skinny Those are the actual terms the author uses to label her chapters I think I would have chosen differently especially because Cookie would never boil down her life that way Large portions of this story are about Cookie dealing with her neglectful and deeply flawed deeply selfish parents I really liked Cookie as a character The character I don t like is Cookie s grandmother Her grandmother is supposed to be the voice of reason to balance out Cookie s brash personality but I m not sure I agree with her advice You should dump friends who side with your bully You don t have to go to the funeral of the nasty step dad who hit on you Cookie is right grandma is wrong I don t think the author is sending a good message in these respectsOverall I enjoyed this book I aspire to be like Cookie VonnI was lucky enough to win this book in a Goodreads giveaway

I fell in love with this book from the prologue where the author explains this is not a Cinderella story of getting thin but that the first chapter was based on a true experience of how she was treated on a flight based on weight Whic
