This author examines earlier attempts to classify children's books and Lewis resists categorisation instead arguing for an 'ecological' approach He argues this convincingly and it makes a lot of sense to me In the end though any attempt to classify picturebooks will leave you with a deeper appreciation of the form I still think that Nikolajeva and Scott did a very job of classification unless we consider their categories as absolutes on a continuum with set limits at each endThis book includes a useful glossary of terms at the end and an appendix outlining the development of printing processes in children's books This is useful because I get confused with terminology such as 'lithography' and 'offset lithography'
