The uber fabulous Heidi Rice contacted me asking if I would like to review this her latest release Naturally I said yes And Heidi as always many thanksThis is actually a newly packaged re issue of two of Heidi's previous books 'Hot Shot Tycoon Indecent Proposal' 'Public Affair Secretly Expecting' AKA 'Walk of Fame' I had previously read both of these titles but believe me it was no hardship to re read them Public Affair Secretly Expecting was actually the first book of Heidi's I read I loved it so much that I went on to read all of her new and old booksI think MB have done a nice job of the new packaging and branding of this book it looks lovely On a side note I am really looking forward to the Mills Boon RIVA relaunch can't wait to see what the new covers are like and what the new injection of authors will come up withThe two stories are linked with the heroines Daisy and Juno being best friends and the sexy Irish heroes Connor and Mac being estranged and rather tortured brothersBoth stories start with a bang in the way only Heidi Rice can do Daisy gets caught sneaking in to Connor's back garden sans bra by the surly and ill Connor and she nurses him through his fever resulting in a very passionate encounter Whereas Juno surprises and confronts Hollywood heartthrob Mac at the airport and in an effort to stop her drawing unwanted attention to him Mac does the only thing he can think of and kisses her From there we are taken on two very compelling journeys with plenty of ups and downs and chock full of charmAll four of the characters have painful pasts that influence the way they are in the present and the author weaves this in with aplomb and manages to create two very emotional stories while still keeping her fun and flirty voice evident throughoutBoth stories stand alone as captivating and witty books but as a pair they sparkleNot to be missed especially if your are new to Heidi Rice's workOriginally posted at

This was a free book from Goodreads First ReadsThis was a fast read easy to pick up where you left off The girls are best friends and work together and their guys are estranged brothers so there is continuity throughout the two stories The plot was very predictable but everyone loves a happy ending This is a good book for traveling or taking to the beach I would read of Ms Rice's books

Working my way through Heidi's back catalogue and discovered this fabulous duo the stories of Connor and Daisy; and Mac and Juno An added interest is that Connor and Mac are brothers who have been separated for 20 years each believing the other would want nothing to do with the other Very sad Heidi has such a wonderfully seductive writing style she simply draws you into the story alongside her fabulous characters and keeps you there to the end She writes humour and angst eually well and what I love about her characters is that she manages to make them nuanced So for example we don't have ''doormat virgin victim' or an 'alpha manwhore who is cruel' her characters are interesting and funny and the dialogue between hero and heroine is always fast furious and funny when it's not being angry angst ridden or anxious At this awful time of coronavirus pandemic and enduring social distancing a satisfying;y emotional escape is perfect and these 2 books deliver in spades

Two great reads in one The stories of two couples Conner and Daisy and Mac and Juno The Brody brothers Conner and Mac are the creation of Heidi Rice and they are two memorable Irish heroes What is Heidi has succeeded in putting the Irish hero right up there with the Greeks and the Sheikhs they are every bit as fanciable The wonderful thing about both Conner and Liam is that although they come from a background of abuse they have not become abusive themselves simply reserved and guarded about giving their hearts away As Conner very movingly tells Daisy in the first volume I don't hurt women That got to me These two brothers don't buy into the myth of happy families and it takes two very special women to make them think otherwiseDaisy Dean is a memorable heroine A feisty redhead who can run up a designer ballgown on a secondhand sewing machine and fiercely protective of those she loves she is the moving force behind 'The Funky Fashionista a successful clothing business The daughter of a mother who spent her life looking for love in all the wrong places Daisy knows just what she wants A simple man with whom she can raise a loving family So what the heck is she doing with the playboy Conner Brody? The contstruction magnate who is also a babe magnet? Why is she heading to the Waldorf to pose as Conner's fiancee for a brief fortnight? Will she be able to walk away with her heart intact when it's all over?Juno who in Daisy's story comes across as an unromantic cynic in the extreme turns out to be in fact another damaged and abused soul When she meets Mac as a natural conseuence of being Daisy's friend the two of them find themselves drawn together and the inevitable happens As Mac is a movie star no sooner do their photos appear in the tabloids when the paparazzi zone in on Juno Can her relationship with Mac survive the pressure? You'll have to read the book to find out You will enjoy it I promise There is also a lovely vein of humour running through both stories in spite of the somewhat grim and tragic backgroundOne word of warning the love scenes are sizzling hot So don't say you weren't warned And BTW Heidi Rice is British but these two men were Irish to the core as an Irish woman I can definitely vouch for that I just had to contact Heidi Rice to find out how she did it and I wasn't at all surprised to learn that she's half Irish You can always tell

Hot and just what I was in the mood to read Both stories feature strong characters who have an immense attraction to each other yet have perceived male heroes brotherswho have problems with love I love the characters the tension and heat between them and how strong willed the heroines are

I loved the first story but felt the second one was basically the same as the first so a little disappointing there But it was a good read and the first half I read in one go

Unfortunately the information regarding this set ended up being a bit misleading In the first story the heroine doesn't realise she's pregnant until the last couple of chapters In the second book the heroine and hero don't even sleep together for about 5 chapters I wanted unplanned pregnancies galore with this set and it wasn't what I got This was a DNF for me because of that
